About Us

I decided to put this blog together at the start of this years kayaking season to help keep track of all of the fun that myself and my family have while kayaking, hiking or doing pretty much anything outdoors.  I also hoped that others who have looked for specific information about kayaking and fishing in Northeast Tennessee could maybe gain a little knowledge from our experiences.  Since getting started in kayaking and kayak fishing in 2010, my oldest son and I have looked for information on the local rivers with little success.  You can find plenty of information about kayaking, however little of it will give you an idea of what to expect once you set out down the river.  Being new to the sport and with little skill starting out we have been hesitant on trying new stretches of water.  Hopefully anyone coming to these pages can read about our exploits and learn a thing or two about the water in which we kayak on.

As stated above my oldest son Jordan and I have been kayaking since late summer of 2010.  We both bought our kayaks and started out floating Watauga River in Elizabethton, TN.  We have been doing so just about every weekend since, when the weather permits.  I have always had a love of the outdoors, particularly with fishing for trout on the local rivers and streams.  I gained this love of fishing from both my mother and father who took me cat fishing as a kid quite often.  I have since passed on this love of fishing and the outdoors to Jordan.

Kayaking has been a great opportunity for Jordan and I to spend countless hours together having fun and doing things together as a father and son.  These pages are a way for us to memorialize our time spent together on the water.

One of the greatest things about the outdoors is sharing it with others.  If anyone happens across these pages and would like to join us at some point, or invite us onto a section of water we have yet to try please feel free to contact us.  I can be reached by gmail at jmagan76@gmail.com.  Neither of us are kayaking experts and do not claim to be any sort of instructor, however we will gladly show any knowledge we have gained and help other interested in learning this great sport and hobby.
